AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM INFORMATION
AFTER-SCHOOL CARE
The After-School Care program strives to provide a safe environment and enriching activities at a reasonable cost for children of working parents. This program was added in 1990 in response to a growing need for school-age activities and care in Salisbury and the surrounding areas. The program schedule includes time for homework, socializations, creative activities, and an afternoon snack. The ASC program offers services for children enrolled in the following area elementary schools: Hanford Dole, Overton, Isenberg, Hurley, and Elizabeth Koontz. The children either ride a bus from their school to the church or are picked up and brought to the church in on of the church's vans.
SUMMER CAMP
FUMC also offers a Summer Camp to provide elementary age children of working parents supervision, enriching and stimulating activities, field trips, pool days, and a reading program, at a reasonable cost. This program operates during the summer months and on days when school is not in session, such as Christmas vacation. While morning and afternoon snacks are provided, the children are responsible for bringing their own lunches.
HOURS OF OPERATION
The After-School Care program is open Monday through Friday from 2:30 pm until 6:00 pm for children enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. The Summer Camp is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm for children enrolled in rising first grade through rising sixth grade.
EXTRA SAFETY MEASURES
The After-School Care program is committed to the safety of the children enrolled in the program, the staff, and the parents. All access doors into the facility are locked during operational hours and the staff electronically monitors the program's main entrance.
